Founded in 1960 as Mid Central Plastics, the custom injection molder started with small parts like the “Lazy Ike” fishing lure and has progressed over the years to become the premiere large part molder in the Midwest.
Morton Industrial Group Inc., a larger maker of metal and plastic parts, bought Mid-Central Plastics in 1998 and ran the plant as part of Morton Custom Plastics. Robert Janeczko, a Morton executive who once headed Morton Metalcraft, became General Manager in 2001.
In 2003, Janeczko, and his son Josh, led a management buyout to purchase the assets from Morton Industrial Group. In 2004, an investment of $3 million in new equipment and infrastructure improvements took place. This included raising the roof to accommodate several large-tonnage presses from Husky, the addition of a new chiller system, and new plumbing and electrical lines. As a privately held, non union company, i2tech has annual sales in excess of $26 million.

Headquartered in West Des Moines Iowa, i2tech operates out of only one location with 113,000 square feet of manufacturing space. i2tech employs a diverse work force and in 2006, i2tech was given the Greater Des Moines Partnerships Diversity Award because of their balanced gender and ethnicity.
